Karin Rosenthal
KARIN ROSENTHAL, a Wellesley College graduate, studied photography at the Rochester Institute of Technology and the Boston Museum School. Her nudes have been published and exhibited internationally and reside in numerous museum collections including the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, Boston Public Library, Brooklyn Museum, Santa Barbara Museum of Art, the Fogg and Rose Art Museums, the International Center of Photography, and Yale University Art Gallery. In 1978, she received a Traveling Fellowship from Wellesley College to photograph in Greece. Since then, her nudes have been represented by galleries throughout the U.S. with recent showings at the Benham Gallery in Seattle, Verve Gallery in Santa Fe and at the Yale University Art Gallery. A book entitled Karin Rosenthal: Twenty Years of Photographs was published in conjunction with a major exhibition of her work at the Danforth Museum of Art in 2000. Rosenthal received a LEF Foundation Grant and the 2006 Ultimate Eye Foundation Grant for Figurative Photography. She has served actively on the Executive Board of New England Women in Photography and has taught numerous workshops since 1996. She was selected the 2009 Distinguished Artist/Teacher in Residence for the Rocky Neck Art Colony and is currently a Visiting Scholar at Brandeis University’s Womens Studies Research Center.

First Prize in the Nudes Category for image 'Vortex' in the 2010 Julia Margaret Cameron Awards. 'Funny Feet' received an Honourable Mention in the same category.

'Tide Pool' series was featured in Ag Magazine, Summer 2010, Number 60
'Funny Feet' won the Renaissance Photography Prize 2010 and 'Contemplation'. won one of the 4 category prizes ('Reflections').
Karin has been awarded a new life-time appointment of Resident Scholar at the Women's Studies Research Center, Brandeis University, Boston.
